can it be, is 2008 almost over?? it's weird, it either flew by or I just lost total track of time. There are moments that stand out in 2008, like my trip to Minneapolis, our summer vacation in Lake Placid, the Olympics, the launch of the iPhone 3G, my trip to the Martha Stewart Show, births, engagement, marriages, and promotions. In 2008 we also said good-bye to a lot of important people. Photographer William Claxton and the great Artist Rauschenberg, the wine maker Robert Mondavi, the sax player from Dave Mathews Band, LeRoi Moore, comedian George Carlin, actors Paul Newman, Heath Ledger, Estelle Getty and Charlton Heston. We say good bye to things we grew up with, as of today Polaroid will stop producing film, a sad state of affairs to those who love the polaroid print. And in my own personal life I had to say good bye to the puppy that I raised from birth. Guinness was 12, and lived a lot longer than anyone, especially all the many doctors that were lucky enough to meet him over the years, predicted he would live. I can only assume that he was happy, and I have to thank him for every minute he gave us. Guinness enriched our lives more than he will ever know, he gave love unconditionally, everyday of his life and asked for nothing in return except to lay next to me on the bed, his big brown head on my chest, keeping me warm from the inside out. That, and occasional cookie. We move forward into 2009 with our new additions, Seamus and Mac, growing by the minute, and are happy to have them as a distraction to the two great dogs that have left us (you all remember Marley, who passed suddenly in 2007?). In honor of those great dogs we piled into the car today and went to see the movie Marley & Me (which we attempted to see the other day, only to find it sold out). We emerged from the theater sobbing, to be greeted with a fresh snowfall of about 6 inches. A perfect distraction to our sadness. So Happy New Year everyone, lets all look forward to 2009. Oh, and lets not end 2008 without a little thanks to the best thing in my life, my husband Tim, be it 2009 or 2099, as long as he is there with me, nothing can be bad!
